4/11/2023 0 Comments Topnotch graphicsI know for sure water needs some hella attention. With that out of the way, maybe we'll see some of those "fundamental fixes to the core game" you mentioned. RWG / World generation is supposed to be finalized in A20. I guarantee they know, but not caring seems like quite a stretch. Scratch that, they probably know and don't care at all. You know you have issues when the playerbase has begged for the same fundamental fixes to the core game for years upon years, updates upon updates, and still have nothing to show for it. It's not that it's impossible or too much effort it's just that the devs don't give enough of a ♥♥♥♥ to actually listen to their playerbase and realize that intensive work on the code is what this game needs for it's long term survivability. Solving ANY of these problems ie adding new content, improving graphics and performance could only be accomplished by reworking the base code. The biggest complaints against this game have always been it runs like ♥♥♥♥, it looks like ♥♥♥♥, and it's barren and empty as ♥♥♥♥. Първоначално публикувано от PANIC_RABBIT:Reworking the code is a laborious job but I still think it needs to be done. So, please, next time you say the game has ugly graphics, consider that they're doing the best they can with the technology they have available from a project that started long ago and was initially written (A1) by a very small team using a much older (Unity) tech.ĭisclaimer: I'm not a programmer or a "tech nerd", so forgive me if I made some errors, but in summary, this is the reason the graphics of 7D2D will never be as good as some other, more recent, games. So, basically, they COULD rewrite the entire graphics part to support Unity's HDRP, but the effort and the time necessary (plus all the obvious new bugs) would be too much, especially considering that they're finally aiming for release. Recently faatal, one of the lead devs, mentioned that they can't use the HDRP (High Definition Rendering Pipeline) feature of Unity because the game was never programmed to use one! (probably it wasn't even available on Unity back in 2013) The real problem is that 7D2D has been developed many years ago and the original code never leveraged some of the more recent features of Unity (the game engine). of course, by definition, voxels will split most graphic objects in to pieces and make difficult to have the nice textures that we can see in "static world games".īut I've learned that this is only a small part of the problem. Most people here on the forums have often replied that the problem lies in the Voxel technology. I can understand, however, that most "youngsters" or those that give priority to graphics in games, the current quality level is not enough. I decided to pass to the uninformed players on the forums something I learned directly from the 7D2D devs on the official forums, which relates to the graphics quality.įor most "older" gamers like me, the current graphics is beautiful.
